I would like to record using Logic Pro with my projects on an external firewire 800 hard drive. The problem is I use a Macbook Pro and it only has one FW port. I've read elsewhere in this forum that the 1814 needs to be plugged directly to the laptop and the HD should go through the 1814. That would downgrade it's potential to being only FW400.
Is there any way around this? Would a FW800 hub solve the problem? Then both the HD and 1814 would plug into the hub.
Today I've been experimenting with the 1814 daisy chained via the HD but I get all sorts of weird sample rate fluctuations.
Thanks!
