Projectmix Unknown Firewire Device w/ Pops and Clicks

I've owned this device for about 5 years or so using it daily.

I've troubleshot through every one of the Driver install options listed on your site and most forums. I've also troubleshot my Macpro. I've reset the PRAM/VRAM, Ran Disk Utility, Disk Permissions, Installed the Combo Update and Extra Updates to name a few. I've made sure to follow the correct order of shut down, Plug in, Power up ProjectMix, Turn on computer all in succession to avoid HotPlugging. I've tried different ports on the computer with 4 different FW400 cables all with the following same results.

Here is the issue as it stands:
The MacPro under System Profiler/Firewire lists the Projectmix as 'Unknown Device' and when turned on results only in popping and clicking. I've experienced this when I first bought this interface and worked through it by buying a DEDICATED PCI Firewire card for the PMIO. This was because it was sharing the original MacPro Firewire with Hard Drives @ the time but that was back in 2008. I no longer am so silly to run sessions off of an external drive. In these 2013 recent turn of events, I've thoroughly looked through your forums for people who have similar issues but everyone's PMIO's who crackles and pops, IS RECOGNIZED BY THEIR COMPUTER AS PROJECTMIX. Where mine is listed as listed in System Profiler as 'Unknown device 400MB/Sec'. Also not recognized by the newly downloaded software/driver set.
I would normally point to the driver to be this issue but after countless tries installing/shutdown/plug in/ power on PM IO/Turn on MacPro to an unsufficient result listed above. Then repeat...............Uninstall/Shutdown/Unpower/Unplug/Restart MacPro etc.........
I fail to recognize the current driver as being the issue here.

I DO NOTICE that when PMIO powered up WITHOUT the firewire cable connecting to the computer that the 8 mic-pre green lights illuminate. They do not illuminate when the PMIO IS in fact FW connected to the Computer. This is when the crackling happens and I'm yet to see the PMIO become 'seen' as itself instead of an 'Unknown Device'

I'm at a point now 24 hours of Troubleshooting my entire system and need help. I know this port is a known issue as there are many others whom are experiencing this issue.

It is conclusive to me that the Projectmix IO has indeed a failed FW Port.
This guy says to buy a whole Firewire board for install roughly $100
