How Can I record Audio Directly from a Notation Program

I want to record audio using an applet (NCH S/W SoundTap) as my notation s/w is producing output. I use outboard h/w synths whose audio outputs are patched into the Project Mix IO. No DAW is active. I am trying to avoid the extra steps of exporting to MIDI and importing into SONAR to create the audio file. SoundTap can record streaming audio from the internet (e.g. YouTube) but does not see (hear?) anything from the Project Mix.
