Profire 2626 some weird noises

$

Hello.

I recently bought an M-Audio Profire 2626 and I love It, except for one thing.
When I playback a mix in Logic some weird noises come (like If a speaker Is almost dead, scratch noises) randomly. It also appears if i bounce the track. But when I'm soloing each track no weird sound appears.

Any solutions?

Thanks!

Projectmix i/o and Keystation 88es volume control.

This may be a complete noob question but since I am a noob I will try here. I am currently getting comfortable with a newly acquired PMI/O. After 3 months I have a decent grip on things but am still baffled by one issue. It may not make sense but when using my Keystation 88 controller the volume pedal control passes through Logic and controls the fader on whatever track is active on the Project Mix. I know it's all midi data but I for the life of me can't figure out if there is a way to terminate the signal pre fader on the control surface. The reason for this is simply to reduce wear and tear on the faders while auditioning and practicing. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks in advance ....

M-Audio Profire 610 not recognized in windows or OS X

Hello everybody.

I own a ProFire 610 since early 2009 and it hasn't given me any real problems until a couple days ago.

Out of nowhere, after a period of (lets say) one and a half months without being connected, my desktop PC and laptop stopped recognizing the interface.

I tried to re-install the drivers on both OS X Lion and Windows 7 with no luck at all. There were no events like dropping, hot plugging or anything. It has just been sitting on the desk, quietly.

Then, I bought a new 6P-6P firewire cable (wich I use to connect to the desktop) and it hasn't worked.

After that, I've connected the interface to another computer with a 4P-6P cable + power adapter and it hasn't worked either. Note that that computer was (and still is) running and recording with a Edirol firewire interface through the same 4P-6P firewire cable with no issues at all.

At last I connected the known working Edirol interface through my 6P-9P firewire cable (the one I use to connect the ProFire to my mac) and it worked like a charm..

So, IMO, there's no doubt that the problem lays on my ProFire interface... I've contacted the store from who I bought the interface and all I got was "we're very sorry but the item is no longer under warranty". That was helpful.

Any thoughts? Anyone got through something similar?
I thank you all in advance. :)

Hi,

There is a faulty focus rect in my Profire Control Panel. See the attached picture.
The rectangle disappears when the tab is double clicked for editing.

Also when the control panel is started the following error occurs in the system.log:

M-Audio ProFire Control Panel[1926]: Could not find image named 'fader-top'.

I noticed this behavior after upgrading to Mountain Lion. I have 2560x1600 resolution if that matters..

Hardware: ProFire 610 (2)
Firmware: 1.0.1
Software: 2.3.3
OS: Mac OS X 10.8 12A269
Code: 64-bit 24 Intel Xeon X5650 2.66 GHz

Thanks.

Games freeze up with ProFire 610

Hi, guys.

I've recently bought a ProFire 610. Very impressed by the sound quality and audio performance. But It seems that I can't play any game over 5-10 minutes. It will freeze the whole system up and I got to Power Off then Power On my PC. Only froze, the audio kept going, no msg, no error code, no BSOD. No problem with onboard Realtek and older Creative X-Fi.

While using ProFire, I did turn off the onboard sound card via BIOS and unplug the X-Fi from the PCI.

My rig:
ASRock P67 Extreme4
I7 2600K
G.Skill 4Gx2 1600mhz
GTX580
Cooler Master GX650W PSU
ProFire 610 connected to the onboard 1394 port
M-Audio BX5 D2 x4

I have no problem with Audio Processing/DAW Software, etc. Only games (BF3, MW3, etc).
Need your help, thanks in advance.

Profire 610 - No audio from outputs 7/8

Hi,

I'm using a Profire 610, current drivers, Windows 64b SP1, onboard sound disabled, Cubase 6.5 with current update and no matter what I do can't get audio out ports 7/8. Everything else works as it should and no other problems. I can change my vst routing in cubase to use 5/6 and no problems. The 1/2, 3/4 headphone routing all works, mic's in etc etc. All good.

I have taken the 610 back to where I bought it from and they checked it out on a mac and said it was fine. The mixer panel meters shows signal fine on 7/8. I can unplug my monitors from 7/8 plug then into 5/6, change vst route in cubase and audio is fine.

This really looks like hardware fault but given the supplier said that it was fine I just don't know where or what else to check. The config is simple and it's got me stuffed.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Sure I can use 5/6 but I'd like to make sure there's no hardware issue that I ignore and run out of warranty. The unit is a week old.

Cheers,
Mark.

Input and output problem

 Hello anyone. I am now the proud owner of a project Mix I/O being use with Sonar X1d expanded. Long story....short! I have been using a fast track pro as my main and only interface, for one year now. Upon installing the drivers for the project mix..Sonar sees the inputs and out from this device, only that of the project mix.. However I am not getting any sound even though I have select the new device(project Mix) under the in and out of my audio settings..I still have to complete my setting under the Midi and control surface device menu... But at this juncture Sonar is telling me that the input/outputs are in silent mode and to select the correct audio device and assign them. Do I have to change all inputs and out for all my projects or will this will be done automatically.

how to connect iPad to Profire 610 for monitoring in Stereo

$

Ok, I was recently having a little trouble doing this but I figured it out and decided I would post the solution in here for others benefit.

I use the DAW Nanostudio on iPad and wanted the ability to monitor in full stereo when Im composing. I tried running out of the iPad into a single input on my profire 610 and discovered that everything was being squashed to one channel. I learned that the inputs are mono so, I followed someones advice and here is the solution:

I am running 1/8" out of my ipad to a splitter which is splitting my stereo signal to left and right signals. I slapped 1/4" converters on these two ends and ran the left into input 1 and the right into input 2. In the software controls I panned input 1 to the left and input 2 to the right and now everything sounds just dandy. When I pan in my DAW on the iPad everything checks out on the monitors!!! Hope this helps anyone who is in a similar situation.

I'm using it with Win 7 32 bit, and in the control panel seems everything's fine but unfortunately no softwares see it so i can't use it. No youtube, no ableton live, no fl studio, no VLC. no midi signal as well. I tried with latest drivers and old one as well but nothing changed. I tried to unistall and re-install drivers and softwares but still not working properly. really disappointing. anybody else got this problem? did u solved?

NRV10 - insert and return used for mono effect applied to a stereo input

I am still learning to use my second-hand NRV10 mixer and I have never used any sends and returns by now.
I just bought Radial Tonebone Hot British Tube Distortion Pedal (mono/single channel) that I would like to use not only for mono TSR inputs (guitar), but also for simulations of vintage keyboards (stereo TSR inputs on the NRV 10).

Can I use the AUX sends (just mono) as input to the Radial Tonebone Hot British Tube Distortion Pedal and get the Output to the AUX returns (also mono)?
Will this process the stereo inputs separatelly? I don't want to have my stereo inputs downmixed to mono.

In fact, I don't need to use the effect on more than 1 instrument at a time, I am just trying to keep the keyabord signal stereo.
Yeah, I know that also the simulations of vintage keyboards/organs produce only mono signal, but I would like to be able to use also some other stereo sounds/insturments with the pedal.
Thanks for help.

Customer service? *What* customer service?

I have been a happy customer of M-Audio for many years, having purchased microphones, audio interfaces and keyboards, pleased with everything until finding something out which, had I known it prior to purchase, would have influenced my buying decisions. I am particularly concerned because I have recommended your products to friends and colleagues and am now in the dubious position of having to tell them what I have discovered about M-Audio's after-sales service.

There has been a long-standing issue with the power-on sequence for the Firewire 1814, so I have always observed the correct powering sequence. There was for a long time a driver issue affecting Midi usability, necessitating the purchase of another device to handle what the 1814 could no longer do because of driver issues. Finally the 1814 died in a fashion described by other customers. Bear in mind this device has been used only a handful of times in the years I've owned it. The software has always been kept up to date, as is routine practice for me with device drivers. I learn that there is nothing that can be done to repair this 470GBP purchase because M-audio no longer keep parts for it and my only option is to buy another one.

I am dissatisfied by this response and await your reply before taking further action. I look forward to having my faith in your brand restored if that is at all possible.

Help Needed: Firewire Audiophile not working with iMac & OS 10.6.8

Dear all,

After reading the FAQ and forum threads and not founding any valid clue for the troubles I'm experimenting, I find my self forced to ask for some help.

i'm using a M-audio Firewire Audiophile soundcard perfectly on my macbook laptop -see details on my signature- but I'm also trying to use it with my iMac, which has the same operative system -10.6.8, rest of technical details on my signature- and there's no way to plug it and use it propperly.

I've tried installing the drivers -version 1.10.3- several times, I follow the common instructions properly -installing drivers, shutting down computer, plugging the soundcard and turning computer on- but I can't get anything but blinking leds.

I've also tried restart the computer with the blinking leds and crossing fingers to see if it happens, but no positive results so far.

I know the card works perfectly on my laptop, and I just can explain myself why it is not working on my imac despite of using the same OS.

Any help will be really appreciated,
Thank you

FireWire 410 inconsistency with OS X 10.7.3

Hey all,

Recently procured a FW410. Happy with it when it works, but I have several repeating and extremely aggravating problems.

I'm running the FW410 into a MacBook Pro via a Firewire 400-800 adapter. I make sure not to hotplug. Drivers are up to date (I've tried reinstalling before to alleviate the following problems, to no avail).

I'm running a Line 6 POD HD Pro into the interface via two analog XLR for stereo (wet) input, plus S/PDIF for digital (dry) recording. I have set the software mixer such that the sync is external to correspond with the Pro's sampling rate of 44.1KHZ.

Most of the time, this works fine. In Reaper, I arm two tracks so that I record a stereo wet signal and a dry signal from S/PDIF. Exactly what I want. However, this is unbelievably inconsistent.

At random times, I will hear a complete stop in audio from the FW410. All lights blink off and if I look at the software mixer, the sampling rate has turned red. Sometimes, after the brief interruption, I can go back to recording. If I do, my signal is garbled. The original signal is there, but it's coated in oscillating noise that makes the signal completely unusable. Each time this happens, I close the laptop, make sure it's asleep, turn the FW410 off, unplug it, replug, turn back on, and boot the laptop up again. Usually after this, I can record fine... until the sampling rate spazzes out again. And the whole process repeats. As a result, recording parts that would normally take me 20 minutes with the HD Pro direct in via USB ends up taking 2 hours or more.

The other problem is that at random points no sound goes to the phones. The analog ins, S/PDIF in, and software returns show activity but nothing for the phones. Usually, I have to toggle the monitor buttons under the phones and SOMETIMES that gets me sound back.
This seems ridiculous though. If 1/2 is selected under the phones, shouldn't I be getting the sound from 1/2 without having to toggle it off and on?

I'm strapped for time and need to pound out a recording project very soon here. Constantly toggling software switches and being unsure of whether my take will be usable or not is really frustrating and if I can't get it figured out soon I'll be switching to another (non M-Audio) interface. I heard a lot of praise for this unit so I hope that's not the case. I really hope these problems are related to some software configurations and can be resolved with a bit of expertise.

I really appreciate any help. I did consult the FAQs and several seemingly similar threads but haven't found anything exactly related. Again, any help is very much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Best,
Jacob

What mac to use with my Pro Tools set up

Hey guys, just wondering if you can help me out. I have a G5 power mac, Pro tools M powered 8 and a Project mix io. I've been having some problems with my mac and I'm now looking to upgrade it. I know you can spend thousands upon thousands of pounds on a new mac but i haven't got those kinds of funds so was wondering what mac would suit me. I'm a college studying Sound Production and will be using my set up for Sound Design, music producing, dubbing etc. I was looking at Imacs but not sure if this is what i'm needing.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Faulty Profire 610

Hi, I've owned a Profire 610 for awhile now and it has worked perfectly until last night when my first XLR line input started making really loud static noise. I tried all my other inputs and they all work fine. I've isolated all other possibilities including drivers, firewire card, cables, another computer, everything. I researched the problem and found that there have been many, many others with the same problem. I don't want to just sit here and wait for my other inputs to die just like everybody else.

It just sucks because it's been well over a year and my warranty has expired. I've called Avid tech support and all they did was redirect me to the e-mail address of their repair shop. I DO NOT WANT TO PAY EXTRA MONEY FOR SOME PRODUCT THAT WILL ONLY LAST SHORTLY AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES! I mean I hate to be like the guy with the broken iPod suing Apple but damn I paid alot of money for this and I expect the product to last for a long time. It's not even like there's wear and tear, I've only used it a few times - very gently mind you.

Sorry for the rant, but I believe the company needs to recall the product, offer refunds or at least extend the warranty. This problem happens to almost everybody. Does anyone know where I can contact the actual M-Audio HQ? Not some outsourced call center in India?

Thank you very much for your help...

hooking up Behringer ADA 8000 to Projectmix ADAT

$

Hey guys,

Purchased a Behringer ADA 8000 to add 8 more pre amps to my system. Watched a video online on how to hook this thing up and make it work with my interface and protools. Unfortunatley, i'm not getting it to work like the video says it should. Here is how I have it hooked up(or how the video says I should have it hooked up) ADAT out of ADA 8000 to ADAT in on projectmix. I set the ADA 8000 to master 44.1. Powered on system, started protools. Went to setup tab in protools clicked on hardware ( like video said)........and I don't get the same menu in the hardware setting as the the dude in the video. First his protools recognizes that he has an optical piece of hardware hooked up and he has the choice to select the clock source and after you make all the proper selections within the software, protools recognizes 8 more inputs via ADAT. My hardware menu just recognizes that I have a projectmix attached to it nothing else. I guess the question is...what am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. in case I don't have specs in my sig. here it is.

New to the Profire 2626.

Just purchased the Profire 2626 and want to find the most effective way to integrate it into my current set up. What should I be using, not using, and what is the most effective signal flow.

Here's my setup and gear:

PC running ProTools M-Powered 7.4 cs9

M-Audio Profire 2626
Presonus Digimax D8 (which I would like to connect via ADAT for 8 addional inputs and pres)
M-Audio Delta 1010 (my previous interface)
Behringer ULTRA-DI PRO DI800
Behringer - Eurorack UB 2442FX-Pro

I also have 2 4-channel headphone amps, could I use them off of the headphone outputs on the front of the 2626?

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
