Very Hybrid Setup Question...

Okay this is going to get confusing but here we go! (Takes a breathe)

This is what I want to do. I have an Universal Audio Apollo, Project Mix I/O, and a ProFire 2626. My big question is how can I get a setup where I have the Apollo as the main guy using its converters and pre amps then use the Project Mix I/O's inputs and control surface only and then the same thing with the ProFire 2626? Here is my idea...

iMac->via FireWire 800-> Apollo-> via ADAT 1 -> Project Mix I/O->via ADAT 2->Profire 2626

My question is, will the control surface still be accessible? Or that HAS to be connected FireWire for the control surface to work?

Hints, tips, alternatives, anything is welcome. How can I get this to work?
