I would just like to say this.
The response I got from support is that they don't support imacs running windows on bootcamp.
this is what was said to me, " I can't help you if you insist on using an unsupported system."
Well, I didn't insist on anything and think that is quite a rude thing to say. As if I went out of my way to buy a computer that avid doesn't support and does't even list that they don't support it. It's the computer I happen to own and it does not say anywhere that the INTERFACE is not compatible with bootcamp systems. It only says that pro tools isn't supported (pro tools works fine in boot camp BTW).
This is ridiculous to me when so many other systems are experiencing this issue. a windows PC is a windows PC. The only difference in the case of iMac is that it happens to ship with a different OS. It would make as much sense as saying my computer came with linux and I installed windows on it as well. Even though the same exact issue is happening on other systems, we will not support yours because it shipped with linux. It has been a long time since this issue has been reported and talked about, and at this point I think I am going to start boycotting m-audio products in general. As far as I know they have done nothing to address this issue and it looks like they won't be releasing any driver updates. Instead of fixing a problem it appears they are just phasing it out, judging by the somewhat recent price drop. This is an awful thing for a company to do. it would be a fantastic interface if they simply were willing to address this issue as a priority. I have tried every suggestion in the forums such as using legacy firewire drivers and etc. Nothing has worked. This appears to be an issue with the driver itself. Even though it works on many systems, my experience with AVID is that they decide to not give official support for things they don't feel like working on (EG: usb hard drives and certain mobo manufacturers).
Selling maudio to musicgroup (or whatever they're called) seems like it will lead to even less commitment in making their products stable and reliable. In my eyes it's just a conglomerate of audio companies that pump out garbage. I am basing that at what was revealed at NAMM 2013. Rebranded alesis interfaces?! I mean... really?
the only customers I can see maudio having 3 years from now are the foolish and uninformed. This brand is no longer cares to make quality products and it makes me very sad and angry. I have to go from OSX to windows frequently for my job and it's seriously taken the wind out of my sails in regards to recording as often as I would like. I shouldn't have to reboot every time I want my interface to function properly, and I sure as hell will not run a session in windows if my screen is going to turn blue in front of client. What would I say to that client? "M-audio isn't committed to making their products function properly" ??!
Anyway. I'm fed up and highly disappointed. I bought this interface when it was expensive and even if I wanted to sell it off to get something comparable, I'd have to sell it for less than half of what I paid for it. I would have loved to get the black lion audio mod for my pf2626, but not it is not even an option. My only option is to offload it for $100 less than half of what I paid for it and lie to the buyer, saying it doesn't have any issues, when it has grotesquely ignored driver issues. Could I just ship the interface to you, and you can give me $600 for it because it has never worked properly? thanks.
